Textile & Trend Notes from High Point Furniture Market--leading the way to 2026!

Designers on the Calico Visual Merchandising team were at the Fall 2025 High Point Furniture Market—along with more than 70,000 buyers, exhibitors, designers and editors from 100+ countries. It really is a BIG deal! Textile manufacturers were well represented as well, attending to see which of their fabrics made the cut and landed on furniture frames in the showrooms.

This closeup of the twin bedroom below is a new Calico image and it illustrates several continuing trends: checks are big, greens are still growing, the wallcovering is definitely cottage core—and a statement print creates visual punch to elevate the look.

What makes all these patterns work together? They differ in scale and are complementary in color. The upholstered headboard is covered in the buffalo check Nemesia in Linen. The woven Madison Stripe in Linen is on the fringed sham plus the coverlet, custom quilted in a vermicelli pattern. The dramatic bird print Norland in Green hails from a noted British design house, featured on a ruffled sham and duvet. The neck roll is covered in the embroidered linen Kaelen in Pine. A vine stripe wallcovering accents the gabled walls, Everleigh/MF4767 from Magnolia Home.

Following are some of the trends that stood out to Julie Mihuc, Director of Marketing & Visual Merchandising, and Susan Epps, Manager, Visual Merchandising & Furniture, both at Calico headquarters:

A turn to traditional décor grounds us in an uncertain world, exemplified by menswear plaids and classic checks. When smaller in scale, they appear cottagey; when enlarged, they seem more graphic and contemporary. A few swatches from Calico for inspiration:

Block-print patterns in simple colors and floral stripes add cottage style to interiors. Pleated skirts or ruffles are having a moment—and add a feminine flourish to sofa or chair frames. Using fringe in place of a skirt also harkens back to more traditional times. A few swatches from Calico:

Fabrics: Magitha in Indigo, Mikado in Porcelain, Hyacinth in Marine

BERRIES & BORDEAUX ADD DEPTH TO DECOR

These timeless hues evoke notes of burgundy and bordeaux, cabernet and merlot. Blend them with warm neutrals, dusky pinks and cognac colors for rich interiors that make accessories pop. A few swatches from Calico feature this trend:

Vintage greens plucked from nature are always in style. Vintage tapestry forest patterns make us feel grounded and connected to history—and are now available as jacquard performance fabrics! Deep bottle greens look especially rich in velvet textures. Calico swatches in nurturing greens:

Fabrics: Zera in Balsam, Garo in Herb, Reyna in 3 Green

BLUE HUES ADD COOL NOTES

Blue is the perfect complement to whites, ivory and linen colors—a classic that’s always in style. In hues ranging from chambray to indigo, sky blue to slate blue, these calming colors easily find a place in our homes. Calico swatches for inspiration:
